What is this calculator for?

The Embalming Fluid Index Calculator is a tool designed to help embalmers determine the concentration of embalming fluid needed for the embalming process. It uses the formula I * Q = C * V where:

  • I = Index of concentrated fluid (strength of fluid, usually a percentage)
  • Q = Quantity of concentrated fluid used
  • C = Index of diluted fluid (resultant concentration after mixing)
  • V = Volume of the container used for dilution

How to use the calculator:

  1. Enter three of the following values in the appropriate input fields:
    • I: The index of the concentrated fluid (e.g., 20%, 25%).
    • Q: The quantity of concentrated fluid used (in ounces, milliliters, or liters).
    • C: The desired concentration of the diluted fluid.
    • V: The total volume of the container used to mix the fluid.
  2. Select a product from the dropdown list if needed. This will automatically fill in the fluid index (I value).
  3. Once you have entered three values, click the = button to calculate the missing value. The result will be displayed in the result area.
  4. To reset the calculator, press the C button to clear all values and start a new calculation.

Important Notes:

  • You must leave one input field empty for the calculator to work, as it will calculate the missing value based on the other three.
  • If you enter all four values, the calculator will not work and will prompt you to leave one field empty.
